Welcome to Step by Step

Step by Step is a program funded by OSI - Open Society Institute to foster democratic
principles and promote parent and community involvement in early childhood education within emerging democracies.  GUCCHD was one of the first partners of the SbS initiative and was instrumental in creating and supporting its infrastructure.  GUCCHD has provided extensive technical assistance in program/materials development and training.

Step by Step began in 1994. In 1999, the International Step by Step Association (ISSA), a non-governmental membership organization that unites individuals and organizations into a powerful network to promote the ideals of Step by Step, was established in the Netherlands. 

As of January 2005, GUCCHD's technical assistance role will be transitioned to Europe to reflect the network's increased self-sufficiency.  GUCCHD will continue to be involved with ISSA's journal "Educating Children for Democracy".
