Upcoming Training Opportunities

 

  • Presentation and Training materials from the 2006 Georgetown University Training Institutes  are now available. The Training Institutes focused on service delivery approaches that are family driven, youth guided, and individualized and that represent evidenced-based or promising practices that achieve positive outcomes for children and their families. While the Institutes is over, valuable learning and training materials are now available, including Conference Bags, a CD with presentation materials from all institutes and workshops, and a CD with resource documents.


  

New TA Center Resources

  • The Best Beginning: Partnerships Between Primary Health Care and Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services for Young Children and Their Families
    Pediatricians are in a unique position to identify early childhood mental health concerns and family mental health and substance abuse risk factors.  This SAMHSA, funded, web-based resource features eight innovative medical home practices that integrate behavioral health screening for the whole family, facilitate referrals to community services, and offer follow-up care.  This resource describes how the practices use very different approaches to do it, fund it, and the lessons they learned.  A must read for practitioners who want to replicate an integrated primary care and behavioral health model.

Our Mission

The National Technical Assistance Center for Children's Mental Health is dedicated to helping states, tribes, territories, and communities discover, apply, and sustain innovative and collaborative solutions that improve the social, emotional, and behavioral well being of children and families.

Who We Are

The National Technical Assistance Center for Children's Mental Health is located within the Georgetown University Center for Child and Human Development in Washington, D.C..  Since 1984, the Technical Assistance Center has been dedicated to working in partnership with families and many other leaders across the country to transform services for children and adolescents who have, or are at risk for, mental health problems and their families.  Our approach is guided by system of care values and principles.

What We Offer   

The National Technical Assistance Center offers a variety of activities to provide information on "what works" and to help transform mental health and substance abuse services delivery systems for children and their families.  These activities include a broad range of training and technical assistance opportunities for states, tribes, territories, and communities to assist in transforming service delivery systems for children with mental health needs and their families Our training and technical assistance addresses the transformation goals and recommendations in the report of the President's New Freedom Commission on Mental Health, Achieving the Promise.

Funding

The National Technical Assistance Center for Children's Mental Health is funded and supported by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, the Center for Mental Health Services, the Child, Adolescent and Family Branch, and the Special Programs Development Branch. Other funding sources include the federal Administration for Children and Families and The Annie E. Casey Foundation.
