A pre-conference orientation will be held on Wednesday, July 16 from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM. The orientation is designed to provide basic background information about children's mental health activities at the federal level, technical assistance resources, family organizations, and the system of care concept, as well as an orientation to the Training Institutes. Participants who have not previously attended the Training Institutes may benefit from the orientation. A Youth Leadership Track orientation will be held at the same time for all registered participants in the Track.

In collaboration with the Technical Assistance Partnership for Child and Family Mental Health of the American Institutes for Research and Federation of Families for Children's Mental Health, the Training Institutes will serve as a required 2008 system of care community meeting for communities receiving funds from the federal Comprehensive Community Mental Health Services for Children and Their Families Program. Full delegations from funded system of care communities are required to attend the meeting from Wednesday, July 16 through Sunday, July 20.

In collaboration with the National Indian Child Welfare Association (NICWA), Institute and Workshop sessions addressing the issues and challenges facing Native American and Alaska Native communities will be offered throughout the Institutes program. In addition, a required meeting of all tribal communities funded by the federal Comprehensive Community Mental Health Services for Children and Their Families Program will be held on Tuesday, July 15 from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. States working directly with their tribes are encouraged to attend.

The Institutes will host the annual meeting of the Children, Youth, and Families Division of the National Association of State Mental Health Program Directors. The meeting will take place Tuesday, July 15 and Wednesday, July 16.

Lights, Camera, Action!
Join us for the System of Care Cinema-an exciting opportunity to expand your knowledge of mental health problems experienced by children and adolescents and their families through films and discussions. Theatrical and documentary films will be shown which address the mental health issues of youth populations from diverse racial and ethnic groups and geographic areas. The viewing of each film will be followed by a facilitated discussion. Films and follow-up discussions will be scheduled throughout the Institutes program. The System of Care Cinema is sponsored by the Technical Assistance Partnership for Child and Family Mental Health.

During the Training Institutes, Cardio Hip Hop and Cardio Kick Boxing exercise sessions will be offered exclusively for Training Institutes participants. These sessions will take place from 6:00 AM to 7:00 AM each morning from Thursday, July 17 through Sunday, July 20. Be an early riser and join in these fun workout sessions!
