The Georgetown University Leadership Academy provides a unique opportunity to enhance your capacity as a leader in these challenging times. As our health and human service systems continue to change to better support families, children and youth, we, as leaders must be equipped with skills and competencies to address these changes. Through a personalized and hands-on approach, this Academy focuses on the key leadership skills and conceptual frameworks needed to improve outcomes for children and their families. You will learn how to motivate teams toward a shared vision, lead in a collaborative environment where power is shared, partner more effectively with formal and informal leaders, adapt your leadership style to a variety of situations, and expand your own ability to take risks and foster resilience for enhanced effectiveness.
While the Academy uses multiple learning modalities, the cornerstone is a customized peer feedback and consultation process directed at a leadership challenge you personally are facing. This facilitated process connects cutting edge strategies to your long term leadership goals. The entire curriculum is designed to encourage interactions between you and other committed leaders, giving you an opportunity to share with and learn from your colleagues and faculty about effective leadership strategies in collaborative work. In addition, prior to attending the Academy in Santa Fe, you will begin a personalized leadership feedback process using the Leadership Practices Inventory (LPI) designed by renowned leadership experts Kouzes and Posner. This dynamic feedback process offers you a framework to assess and expand your leadership skills and style.
As a participant, you will experience three rewarding days devoted to building your leadership capacities. You will return home with a certificate of completion and a personally crafted blueprint for leading effective change in your work. We hope you will join us!
