Clinical and Community ServicesDevelopmental Screening Clinic: Biography of Chahira Kozma, M.D. Dr. Chahira Kozma is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at Georgetown University Medical Center. She is board certified in Pediatrics and Clinical Genetics in addition to having extensive training in interdisciplinary developmental pediatrics. Dr. Kozma provides a wide range of clinical services at Georgetown University Medical Center and affiliated hospitals. She has a long experience in serving on various interdisciplinary teams, assessing prenatal exposure to substances, malformation syndromes, genetic aspects of mental retardation, and developmental pediatrics. In addition, she has special expertise in assessing children exposed to substances during pregnancy. The increasing use of illicit substances during pregnancy with its associated adverse effects on the developing fetus has produced a unique set of medical, developmental, and handling concerns in exposed infants. Dr. Kozma provides a model service program and drug education for exposed children and their mothers or caretakers. Infants and children receive a thorough medical history, physical, neurological, and dysmorphological evaluations. Dr. Kozma has lectured nationally and internationally on the Ethical, Legal, and Social Implications of the Human Genome Project, fetal alcohol syndrome, diseases in ancient Egypt, teratology, and genetic conditions.
