The National Technical Assistance Center for Children's Mental Health at the Georgetown University Center for Child and Human Development is offering Training Institutes on local systems of care for children, adolescents, and young adults with or at risk for mental health challenges and their families. The biennial Training Institutes are organized in partnership with the Child, Adolescent and Family Branch of the federal Center for Mental Health Services and The Annie E. Casey Foundation.
The 2010 Institutes will focus on how to provide effective clinical interventions, services, and supports and how to measure performance to assess the outcomes of these practices for children, adolescents, young adults, and their families. The hallmark of the Institutes is in-depth, practical training that participants can apply in their own states, tribes, territories, and communities.
The Institutes are designed for a variety of individuals including policy makers, administrators, planners, providers, clinicians, care managers, families, youth, advocates, managed care organizations, educators, researchers, evaluators, students, and others concerned with improving services for children and families. Individuals representing mental health and other child-serving agencies, including education, child welfare, health, juvenile justice, early childhood, and substance abuse systems, together with families and youth, are encouraged to attend.
Here's what some of our 2008 participants had to say about the Institutes...
- "The premier conference on children's mental health."
- "This is the first conference I've attended where I can use every bit of information and resources I received!"
- "The overall experience of this year's conference was moving, motivational, and compelling. Many new ideas and techniques were introduced."
- "I have been challenged to move forward as a person, a family member, and a member of our community."
- "The conference overall was very high quality--impressive from content, participants, presenters, logistics, and inclusiveness. I look forward to the next one."
- "Very worthwhile and useful! I am coming away energized and equipped with lots of great ideas."
